The governorship candidate of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori has yet suffered another gaffe, while reading his own prepared speech during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council.
The PDP standard bearer who is the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), on Tuesday January 7th 2023, exhibited the traits of some dull secondary school students in public schools who are forced to learn how to read.
He read his prepared speech very slowly as if having the challenge of eye defects even words that were boldly written, he made mistakes while trying to pronounce some of the words.
Appearing and sounding naive, he repeated same words differently (tautology) when he was to read out his lifeless MORE Agenda programme, he said this “signify”, “means” and finds it difficult to pronounce “great” initially when he was to read: “it is a very great honour to be your guest”.
The section of his speech became more boredom when he read In a monotone voice that made participants to lose interest in his speech, stirring a noisy reaction from behind.
He fumbled and disgraced himself publicly following his inability to read coherently his own speech.
It was observed that as the Speaker was busy reading like a child, his colleagues in the House, government functionaries and party leaders who accompanied him were the only ones clapping.
Although, the speech was written in simple English, that expectedly one would have read without bitting his tongue, the PDP flag bearer maintained a slow pace to avoid mistakes, yet, he was not fluent.
Oborevwori, would be the first PDP governorship candidate in the history of politics in Delta State, who goes about to formal occasion with prepared speeches.
It would be recall that on Thursday November 3rd 2022, Oborevwori, equally read a kindergarten speech at the inauguration of the Delta State PDP Campaign Management Committee, at the Campaign office, along Anwai Road, Asaba.
