While congratulating the State Governor on the strides of his administration in providing quality physical infrastructure and on his recent birthday anniversary, the Elders’ Council, said: “the litmus test of democratic governance us credible elections.

Chairman of the Council, Chris Biose, fondly addressed as Obidient Daddy, said: “In this regards, the Delta State local government polls scheduled to hold in July 2024 presents the most significant test of the credibility of his administration.

“Rigged election is worse than a military coup because violent coup plotters do not pretend to be democratic.

“Writing election results without regard to voting detracts from the legitimacy of government.

“We sincerely appealed to the Delta State political class to shun violence and fraud at the forthcoming local government election.

“The younger generation are watching you. If political leaders continue to sow seeds of violence and fraud by means of their actions during election, it would be impossible to build a sane society or a great nation from such sordid foundation.

“That history and posterity may remember Your Excellency for good, we earnestly urge you to ensure free and fair local government election on July 13, 2024.

“This is the best gift you can give; your best legacy to the younger generation is GOOD EXAMPLE in your conduct if the State affairs.

“We urge the Delta State political class to hearken to the wise counsel of the Alsatian polymath, theologian, philosopher, humanitarian and physician, Dr. Albert Schweitzer: “Example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing”, the council declared.
