Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation Registers 1000 Indigent Persons in Ibusa

One thousand persons in Ibusa community in Oshimili South Local Government Area have been freely enrolled into the Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, courtesy of the Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation.

The event which held at Ibusa saw officials of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission register the enrollees on the spot and issuance of the health cards to the beneficiaries.

The chairman of the Commission, Dr. Austin Obidi said the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative IEAI, was an opportunity provided by the Commission for well meaning individuals and organizations to reach out to Indigent persons around them and spread good health with a token of #7,000 premium per person.

Dr. Obidi who commended the donor, Dr. Idewu Okeze for the gesture, noted that more of such persons were needed to turn around the fortunes of the community and urged the people to continue to pray for him.

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta said the Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation has through the gesture, demonstrated their belief in the power of collective action in engaging positive changes in the society and urged all to remain inspired by the selflessness of the foundation.

Dr. Akpoveta said the state Governor, the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has remained supportive to the Commission especially through financial and political goodwill, noting that Delta state was striving for a society where healthcare is a right and not a privilege.

He said the Commission was working to ensure the most vulnerable members of the society have access to healthcare, and no one will be left behind in the pursuit of universal healthcare.

The Donor, Mr Idewu Okeze, represented by the Honourary chairman of the Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation, Mr. Patrick Okezie, said he heard of the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative from the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Austin Obidi and thought it a laudable initiative, hence the move to register 1000 persons.

He commended the state Government for prioritizing the healthcare of residents of the state, and urged other privileged Deltans to key into the Initiatives of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission.

Beneficiaries were thankful as they sang in appreciation and offered prayers to their benefactor.

The event featured presentation of plaque to the Sponsor of the 1,000 beneficiaries.
