NUJ Delta Rolls Out Activities For 2025 Press Week Celebration

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has announced a week-long lineup of activities for its 2025 Press Week, scheduled to hold from Sunday, November 16 to Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Asaba.

This year’s celebration is themed “Tax Regimes and Exchange Rate Unification: Economic Implications and the Media’s Strategic Role.”

The programme is designed to foster professional development, promote public engagement, and celebrate excellence within the journalism community.

The Press Week will commence on Sunday, November 16, with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, West End, Asaba, at 8:30 a.m.

Activities will continue on Monday, November 17, with visits to selected media houses, followed by a Medical Check and Sensitization Walk on Tuesday, November 18, at the NUJ Press Centre on Mariam Babangida Road, Asaba, starting at 7:00 a.m. The day will also feature social outreaches to orphanages at 12:00 noon.

On Wednesday, November 19, journalists will engage in a novelty football match with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) at the NTA Asaba Football Field by 4:00 p.m.

The high point of the 2025 Press Week is the Grand Opening Ceremony, Public Lecture, and Awards scheduled for Thursday, November 20, at Orchid Hotel, DBS Road, Asaba, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The keynote address will be delivered by Distinguished Senator Joel Onowakpor Thomas, the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS).

The Special Guest of Honour is the State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Comrade Alhassan Yahya, President of NUJ, will serve as Chief Host, and Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, will host the event.

The programme was jointly signed by Comrade Pere Botu, Chairman, 2025 NUJ Press Week Committee, and Comrade Barth Ozah, Secretary, 2025 NUJ Press Week Committee.

The NUJ Delta State Council encourages members, partners, and the general public to participate actively in all scheduled activities.
