NUJ Delta Mourns Augusta Nkiru Odafe, Extends Condolences To Family, Colleagues

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Augusta Nkiru Odafe, a distinguished member of the Grassroots Observer Chapel, who died last Friday after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by the Council, the NUJ described her death as a painful and significant loss, coming at a particularly challenging time for the body as it marks the third bereavement recorded this year within the Council.

Mrs. Odafe, who served as an Assistant Director of Information (ADI) at Warri North Local Government Area, Koko, was remembered as a committed information manager and seasoned professional whose dedication to public communication and grassroots journalism left an enduring impact.

Her diligence, sense of duty, and unwavering commitment to ethical standards earned her the respect of colleagues and stakeholders alike.

The Council noted that her passing is not only a profound loss to her immediate family but also to the entire journalism community in Delta State, where her contributions will continue to be cherished.

While mourning her departure, the NUJ Delta State Council prayed for divine protection over journalists across the state and expressed hope that the Council would not experience further losses.

The Union extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of Mrs. Odafe and members of the Grassroots Observer Chapel, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and repose her soul in eternal peace.

The statement was jointly signed by the Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, and the Acting Secretary, Comrade Josephine Omodior.
