NUJ Congratulates Prof. Owamah On Appointment As DELSU DVC

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Hillary Owamah on his historic appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

Prof. Owamah’s appointment marks a landmark achievement, as he becomes the youngest DVC (Academic) in DELSU’s history and the institution’s only Professor of Civil Engineering.

In a statement on Wednesday February 26, 2025, signed by the Comrade Churchill Oyowe and Comrade Victor Sorokwu, Chairman and Secretary respectively hailed him for his performance.

This distinction underscores his intellectual brilliance, administrative competence, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

A renowned scholar and administrator, Prof. Owamah has over 60 scientific publications in top-ranking Scopus-indexed journals.

His tenure as Director of Academic Planning saw DELSU achieve full NUC accreditation for all 92 programmes while successfully introducing 15 new disciplines, a testament to his transformative leadership.

Beyond academia, Prof. Owamah is a friend of the NUJ, a respected voice in intellectual discourse, and a resource person whose expertise has enriched numerous NUJ engagements.
