The publisher of Ndokwa Vanguard newspaper, Uncle Alaska Ekele would host writers from the South-south geo-political zone at Ogume, Ndokwa west local government area of Delta State.
In a release signed by the Secretary of South-south Writers Union, Dr. Ofonime Inyang and made available to newsmen reads: “Alaska Ekele happens to be our President and has been granted the hosting right for the maiden edition of the International Conference”.
According to the release, date for the arrival of guests has been scheduled for October 28tg, 2021 while departure is October 31st, 2021.
The release disclosed that the South-south Writers Union was formed in 2017.
The member states are Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers States with late Prof. Sam Ukala as one of the patrons.
Membership of the union is open to students in tertiary institutions, Writers, creative minds, business men, corporate individuals among others.
“The Theme of the Convention is “The Role of Creative Writing in National Peace and Security in Nigeria.
“The Keynote Speaker is Prof. Barclays Ayakorona of the Department of Theatre Arts, University for Africa, Toru Orua, Bayelsa State while the Lead Paper Presenter is Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, Rector Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku.
Brig. General Mike Ndubisi (Rtd) President General, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) is the Chairman of the occasion.
