As the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) marks its 25th anniversary, policy analyst and legal practitioner, Eugene Azuka Uzum, has lauded the transformational strides of the commission’s current governing board.

In a statement commemorating the silver jubilee of the interventionist agency, Uzum praised the leadership under the Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie; Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku; Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye; Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai; and Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, for repositioning the NDDC as a driver of sustainable development in the Niger Delta.

He noted that the board has restored public confidence in the commission through transparent governance, responsive leadership, and a commitment to the needs of local communities.

According to Uzum, the board’s approach to project delivery and resource management has positively impacted the lives of people in the region.

A known youth advocate, Uzum also commended the commission’s expanded youth empowerment and scholarship programmes, describing them as unprecedented and instrumental in offering hope and opportunities to young people across the region.

He further highlighted the board’s efforts in completing abandoned projects, initiating new life-enhancing initiatives, and ensuring their tangible impact on the lives of Niger Deltans.

Uzum expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of Mr. Ebie as NDDC Chairman, stating that Ebie’s visionary leadership and administrative competence have made the commission a model for interventionist agencies nationwide.

He called on stakeholders—including state governments and local communities, to continue supporting the NDDC in its mission to drive meaningful development across the Niger Delta.
