N483.57 Billion: 14 Days After, Delta Government Still Silent

Over 14 days after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), at the centre called out the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State for allegedly misusing federal allocations and failing to improve the lives of its citizens, the government was yet to make official statement on the “over N483.57 billion federal allocation to the State in 2023″.

This exposure came to the fore following the call by PDP governors on President Bola Tinubu to resign due to the economic hardship on Nigerians.

But in a swift reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka, on Sunday February 18th 2024, said the call for President Tinubu to resign was nothing short of self indictment by the PDP governors.

Opening the can of worms on the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the APC National Spokesperson said: “Has the PDP Governor of Delta State even attempted to justify the over N483.57 billion federal allocation to the State in 2023?

“Which part or sector of Delta State bears witness to the use of that huge allocation?

“Delta State retirees have remained desperately pulverized by PDP’S uninterrupted reckless rule since the advent of this Republic in 1999.

APC added that it is cringeworthy that the same governors that have never justified the massive federal allocations to their states that have perennially stifled and dispossessed local government administration of federally allocated funds are talking about “bucks”.

APC then demanded that the PDP governors should ‘practice what they preach” and resign from their positions instead of blaming the federal government for their failures.

“Since the buck also stops at the PDP governors’ table at the State level, they should practice what they preach by resigning from their offices rather than blaming the federal administration for their utter failure to mobilize massive resources at their disposal to improving the living conditions of their people “.

The dead silence on the part of the State government leaves more than the eyes could see.
