The Delta State Government has been assured that the report of the study tour of the state by participants of Senior Executive Course 44, 2022 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, will be made available to the state government.
The assurance was given by the Leader of the NIPSS delegation, Prof. O. J. Para-Mallam, during a dinner/gala night put together for the participants by the state government at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
Prof. Para-Mallam commended the state government for its commitment in entrenching democracy at the local government areas through fiscal autonomy, which she said had placed the state ahead of other states in terms of local government autonomy.
She equally commended the state government for assisting the council areas from time to time, which had greatly reduced the burden on the councils.
The Leader of the NIPSS delegation also noted that the present administration of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has done so well in infrastructural development across the twenty-five council areas of the state which had brought people oriented projects to the grassroot.
Earlier in his remarks, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, said the state is privileged to play host to the participants of the course for their study tour of the state.
Senator Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, said the state was aware that the study tour is a critical component of the course curriculum of the Institute.
He said this was why the participants were made to have briefing sessions with various Ministries, Departments and Agencies and other stakeholders that had direct bearing with the theme of their study tour.
The Governor noted that research based study tour by the Institute had contributed immensely to national development and urged them to make available their report of the study tour to the state whenever it was ready.
