Member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, has thrown his weight behind the creation of Anioma state out of the present Delta state.

Responding to questions during the journalists hangout in Asaba on Sunday, Ezechi said he is fully in support of the creation of Anioma state for balance, equity and fair representation.

He said: “You will agree with me that there is nobody that will not support the creation of additional state which will be beneficial to the citizens.

“I am in support of the creation of Anioma state in the south-south region and I think that is the stake of those who sent me to represent Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.”

Also, member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Reps, Ngozi Okolie, gave his blessing for the creation of Anioma state. He made the declaration during the Anioma stakeholders summit held in Asaba in the month of August.

Former member of the House, Ossai Nicholas Ossai, during the summit, also supported the move for the creation of Anioma state out of Delta state.

Beside these lawmakers, traditional rulers were ecstatic during the summit as Senator Ned Nwoko reeled out the benefit of having a separate state for the Anioma people.

On the issue of whether the new state to be created should be in the South South or South east, Senator Nwoko, during the summit, told the people of Delta North that the decision is in the hands of the federal government.

Nwoko told the people that there are numerous benefits from having a separate state for Anioma people.

He said the creation would bring government closer to the people just as it will give more opportunity for Anioma sons and daughters to be in government both in elective and apointive positions.

Ezechi, who became the third current federal lawmaker supporting the move for Anioma state creation, told journalists that he had made remarkable success in his representation of Ndokwa/Ukwuani at the federal house of representatives.

He revealed that his constituency matters are topmost priority in his agenda at the National Assembly.

The lawmaker, who expressed worry at the present economic challenges in Nigeria, revealed that the major challenges Nigeria is having is the inability to enforce the laws to address issues confronting the nation.

He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to show greater commitment to enforcing the laws of the federation, and his policies to fall in line with the present day realities.

Ezechi commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for the attention given to the Ndokwa nation, stressing that he, as the representative of the people, was happy to be associated with the progress so far made in attracting federal and state presence to his constituency.
