Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Delta State, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, has stated that he would not waste time to declare a state of emergency on the education sector if the party wins the 2023 governorship election.

The former minister of State for education, said the State of emergency became imperative following the falling standard of education in the state coupled with the inability of parents to pay the school fees of their children.

He announced that his administration would grant free education from the primary school to the university level for all Delta children.

Gbagi who created 13 Universities as former minister stated this on Saturday November 26th 2022, during a town hall meeting with over 100 pastors and church leaders from Ndokwa east, Ndokwa west and Ukwuani local government areas in Obiaruku, the administrative headquarter of Ukwuani local government area of the state.

While lamenting the dwindling standard of education in the state, which has resulted into what he called half baked graduates, he maintained that declaring a state of emergency would ultimately raise the bar in the education system in the state.
