The Onihe of Ukwu-Nzu in Aniocha north local government area of Delta State, Chief Azubuike Brian Iwendi, has promised to do his possible best to restore the cultural heritage of the people.
Chief Iwendi stated this on Saturday while celebrating his new yam festival at the Odo quarter in Ukwu-Nzu community.
He said, “Today (Saturday) mark the celebration of my new yam festival. It has been long for such new yam to be celebrated in this community.
“I am happy for massive turnout for the event and using this opportunity to call on sons and daughters of Ukwu-Nzu for their maximum cooperation to move this community to next level.
“I will bring back the cultural heritage of our community and by 2022, it will be festivals galore. Our Ine festival will be brought back and will be celebrated in a grand style.
“We are good people and I will do everything humanly possible to uphold our culture because Ukwu-Nzu is rich in culture.”
On the development of community, the Onihe applauded governor Ifeanyi Okowa for construction of Ukwu-Nzu roads, appealing for more to be done in the community.
In his remark, the HRM Obi Christopher Ogo, represented by Prince Dennis Goo also applauded the Onihe for bring back celebration of new yam festival in the community.

The highlight of the occasion was the eating of rusted yam and traditional dance along the road.
