The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 8, comprising Idumuje Unor, Idumuje Ugboko, and Aniofu, has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his humane leadership, commitment to peaceful coexistence, and strides in sustainable development across Delta State.
This resolution was reached during a meeting of Ward 8 leaders and stakeholders held on Friday in Idumuje Unor, Aniocha North Local Government Area.
Speaking at the gathering, Ogbuefi Nnamdi Mohanye, leader of Ward 8 and former Chairman of PDP Aniocha North, expressed joy over the unity within the party, reaffirming that the ward remains the epicenter of PDP in the local government and beyond.
Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), also addressed the gathering, emphasizing that Governor Oborevwori has Ward 8’s interests at heart and urged members to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP.
He assured them that they would continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy through various empowerment and development initiatives.
A motion for a vote of confidence in Governor Oborevwori was moved by Sir Jossy Honnah, Executive Assistant on Special Duties to the Governor, and seconded by Comrade Norbert Chiazor, Executive Assistant on Media to the Governor.
The stakeholders unanimously upheld the motion, pledging their continued support for the governor’s leadership ahead of 2027.
The meeting praised Governor Oborevwori for his achievements in just under two years, particularly in social infrastructure and human capital development.
Reacting to recent defections from PDP to APC, the members affirmed that Ward 8 remains a traditional PDP stronghold, maintaining its dominance since the 1990s.
Despite political shifts, they expressed optimism that the ward would continue to uphold its PDP dominance.
With over 1,000 stakeholders from Idumuje Unor, Idumuje Ugboko, and Aniofu in attendance, the gathering reiterated its unwavering loyalty and support for the Oborevwori-led PDP government.
The meeting also conveyed gratitude to the governor for recognizing and appointing several Idumuje indigenes to key government positions.
While commending the governor for his ongoing development efforts, the Ward leaders appealed for the approval and construction of the Oseji Road in Idumuje Unor, named after a late Supreme Court Justice from the community who passed away in 2021.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were; Lady Nneka Dibia (Vice Chairman, Aniocha North LGA) and Mr. Owen Junior Dibia (SSA Orientation)
Other appointees, councillors, and all PDP Ward 8 executives led by Chairman, Comrade Clement Chiazor.
