As Deltans prepare to go to the polls in March to elect who governs them, the Ovie of Agbon kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Mike Omeru, OGU-RIME-RIME, Ukori I, (JP), has said that he was confident that the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, would lead the State to the promise land.
He gave the assurance on Saturday January 14th 2023, when Gbagi FNIM and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace in Isiokolo, headquarters of Ethiope east local government area of the state.
The king equally expressed faith that Gbagi, has all it takes to make a good governor.
According to him, “I am happy to receive him (Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi), I know him very well, we are very close, if he calls me and tells me what he wants, I will tell him let’s get it done.
“When he was coming, he came with my subjects who are Professors, he is a household name. Gbagi does not need to be introduced to anybody, he is just like a Moon in the sky that shines.
“You do not need to strain your eyes to see the moon shine, when it is off, everybody is in darkness and when the moon is on, everybody sees, that is the personality of Gbagi, he is well known everywhere.
“And having come to tell Deltans that he wants to be Governor from 2023, May 29th, it is worth it and it is what he asking all Deltans to do for him.
“He has come to tell His Royal Majesty that this is his wish, I will not say that it is not necessary, it is very necessary that he comes up to say he wants to be the governor of Delta State.
“If it were possible for His Majesty to ask everyone to step down for him, I would have done that, but the issue of contest is totally different from issuing a policy statement.
“There are other contestants in the race. Some have come here, some are yet to come. The important thing in the whole issue is that all the contestants are from Delta central.
“We have many political parties and that is why we have many candidates jostling for this governorship.
“But I am happy to note that Chief Kenneth Gbagi, is one of those who is also jostling for the very prime position of the governorship of Delta State.
“I have confidence in his ability to lead and to be a good governor of Delta state and I want to appeal to him that if it is the will of God and the will of the people of Delta State to become the governor, he should not renege in his usual good disposition to good governance because he has all it takes to be a good governor”, he declared.
The courtesy was capped up with a royal declaration to confer chieftaincy titles on the Director General (DG) of Olorogun Gbagi Campaign Council, Prof. Jiff Mokobia, a bossom friend of the king and one if his subjects, Prof. Augustus Atubi, the Deputy Director General cum Director of Research during the celebration of his third year anniversary coming up next month.
