A yet to be identified middle aged man was snatched to death by a heavy duty 12 tyre truck in the presence of his wife and in front of their residence, along Deco Road, Warri, Delta State.
Trouble started on Wednesday evening, 11th October, 2023, when the man and his wife who were returning from an outing from Okumagba Estate axis of the road, were about to cross to their residence located opposite the bypass after alighting from a commercial tricycle (keke) when the back tyres of the ill-fated truck crushed the man to death.
It was learnt that they resides in a building owned by a late retired Urhobo born 5 star Nigerian Army General.
The driver was said to be negotiating the bypass when the left side of the back tyres hit and climbed the man , smashing his head and upper region of his body to pieces in the process
The wife of the diseased was said to have crossed over the road to their residence before the bizzare incident occurred
It was indeed a gory site as the smashed head and upper region of the man were trapped between the left side of the back tyres of the heavy duty truck.
The said back tyres had to be lifted up with a giant jack before the pieces of the dead man could be brought out of the tyres.
The wife of the man was said to have immediately fainted when she saw the gory sight and that the little children of the man were prevented from seeing the lifeless body of their father under the heavy duty truck.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, Asaba, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
When our correspondent arrived the scene of the accident, residents were seen discussing the matter in a painful mood.
