The Member Representing Ndokwa East and Deputy Majority Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Hon Prince Emeke Osamuta, at the weekend flagged off the 1st edition of empowerment programme to uplift socio-economic activities and standard of living in the Constituency.
The programme entitled “Building Sustainable Livelihood for Petty Traders and Youths”, had in attendance party and community leaders in Ndokwa Nation, and featured the presentations of cash grants to about 200 beneficiaries, whose joy knew no bound as they celebrate receipt of the financial assistance.
The Deputy Majority Whip and Member Representing Ndokwa East, Hon Prince Emeke Osamuta, at the event held at the Ashaka Town Hall in the local government area, said the gesture is in fulfillment of his electioneering promises and in line with the MORE agenda mantra of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Hon Osamuta who commended constituents for believing in him and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP led administration in the state and for their support and patience, empathized with the people on challenges faced as a result of the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products by the federal government, and assured that the state government is doing all it could to reduce the pains on Deltans.
The Deputy Majority Whip who described the programme as a “Social Investment Scheme”, said beneficiaries were randomly selected across the ten federal electoral wards in Ndokwa East, and urged them to make judicious use of the cash grants to boost their petty trades.
Osamuta who is the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Warri-Uvwie Development Agency and Deputy Chairman, House Committees on Health and Youth and Sports Development, acknowledged that the Constituency is a large one and assured that gradually the support facility will get to as many people as possible.
While paying glowing tributes to the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor for their encouragement, Osamuta thanked leaders across the constituency for their unwavering support.
The Lawmaker assured all of more quality representation in the State Legislature.
The Member Representing Ndokwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi in his remarks, stressed that the times are hard and urged the people to appreciate others efforts to uplift their wellbeing no matter how little.
The Federal Lawmaker who described Prince Osamuta as younger brother and colleague, commended him for making the constituents proud.
The Member Representing Ndokwa Nation in DESOPADEC, Dr Charles Olise, a former Commissioner in Delta State, Omordi George Ugboma, the Chairman of Ndokwa East local government, Chief Vincent Osilonya and others, in their goodwill messages appreciated Hon Osamuta for reaching out to the people, saying that Ndokwa East never had it so good in terms of representation, oversight assignments and contribution to debates on the floor of the State House of Assembly.
The Leaders assured constituents that they would continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy under PDP administration and urged the people to believe in the party.
They said reaching out to the people particularly the vulnerable in the society is key in democratic governance and commended Osamuta for the financial assistance to constituents.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke thanked the Lawmaker for giving out from the little he has to improve the businesses and wellbeing of others, and prayed God grant him the wherewithal to make more success in his political career and journey of life.
The high point of the event is presentation of the cash gifts to the beneficiaries.
