The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue, describing his contributions to governance and peace-building as “evergreen.”

In a condolence message on the passing of the former deputy to Chief James Ibori (1999–2007), under whom he served, the Speaker said Chief Elue’s impact on the state remains indelible.

“His contributions to governance, peace-building, and community development remain etched in the annals of Delta State’s history,” Guwor stated.

In the message made available to journalists by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described the late elder statesman as a distinguished patriot, consummate bridge-builder, and a leader devoted to the service of Delta State and Nigeria at large.

Guwor noted that Chief Elue, who hailed from Obior in Aniocha North Local Government Area, demonstrated uncommon loyalty, dedication, wisdom, and commitment to the unity and advancement of the state throughout his tenure as Deputy Governor.

The Speaker, who also serves as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, further described the deceased as a revered leader and mentor whose public life was defined by humility, integrity, and exemplary statesmanship.

“His counsel was always measured, his leadership inclusive, and his passion for the progress of Delta State unwavering.

“He will be remembered not only for the office he held but for the enduring legacy of service he leaves behind,” Guwor added.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the Elue family, the people of Obior community, and all Deltans mourning the loss.

“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend our deepest sympathies to his immediate family, the good people of his community, and the entire state.

“We pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“May his legacy continue to inspire present and future generations of leaders,” the Speaker said.
