… say PDP, APC, LP, APGA heading for extinction
A support group known as Deltans Fixing Delta, has endorsed the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, as its preferred choice ahead of the 2023 governorship election.
The group with leaders and members drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state, aligned with the largest private investor, as the only one to deliver the State from the present woes the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), has subjected Deltans to.
The group said of all the candidates vying for the number one seat, from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ovie Omo-Agege, PDP, Sheriff Oborevwori, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Ovedje Ogboru, Labour Party (LP), Ken Pela, after listening to Olorogun Gbagi, it has no option than to pitch tent with the SDP candidate, who is more vast, formidable, competent and most qualified to govern the State.
The adoption was done during a meeting of the group on Wednesday January 11th 2023 in Asaba, the state capital.
The adoption of Gbagi, a former Chairman, Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA) whom some members of the group acknowledged as an incorruptible man, was unanimously carried out in a voice vote during the meeting.
They said after a careful evaluation of all the candidates, they endorsed the SDP governorship candidate, for the 2023 election.
They disclosed that seven and half years of the ruling PDP, the government has engendered wide spread perception of its inability to tackle security challenges and turn around the economy.
They insisted that they don’t want ex-convicts, deportee, an ex-criminal, people with questionable character to govern the State.
“We do not want godfatherism anymore in Delta State. We are here to announce to you that Delta is a pacesetter and with Olorogun Gbagi, as our gubernatorial candidate and governor, we are sure that Delta will work again”.
Speaking earlier, Dr. David Solomon, charged the group to chest out for what is right and ensure that the group, Deltans Fixing Delta, stands with Gbagi, a man that has been tested, tried and proven particularly in his private business life.
He said: “My message to Deltans is that, as we are working towards a better Nigeria, in this 2023 election, to produce a credible leaders for a our country, we shouldn’t be focused only on Abuja, and the presidential election, but we are also going to pay attention to our state.
“What is going on in our state is a great concern, because we have seen people who are less qualified than each and everyone of us, yet, they are looting our state, they are sharing all the money that comes out of the state into their personal pockets.
“Something that is meant for our children, and our grandchildren. We receive billions and billions of money, yet, we see our retirees, hungry, their pensions are not been paid.
“I want to say this to us, let us examine our conscience in anything that we do, especially in this times. We have played politics in the past, hiding under one disguise or the other and in our conscience we know whether we are going to deliver or not. One thing I tell people is that whatever you sow comes around”.
Gbagi, who thrilled the group earlier in his remarks, disclosed that he would drag Onitsha market into Delta by building shops in Oko axis as an extension of Onitsha market into Delta.
“Delta State as I have said several times, is the richest State in Nigeria, and richer than 42 independent countries in the world.
“Delta State is seriously endowed but you need somebody who understands entrepreneurship and who understands how to make wealth.
“I am going to use Asaba Textile Mill to generate billions. We will produce jeans material and send abroad to other countries. A country like the Philippine, lives just by making Jeans material for America.
“All these lands from the bridge, I am going to put 200, 000 shops. I am going to drag Onitsha market into Delta. Instead of going to Onitsha, you stop here to buy whatever you want to buy.
“Take the airport for example, I have designed Asaba airport already. I am going to make a six lane airport. I will put two lanes for Cargo and make Osubi airport, four lanes.
“I will not airlift out of the country from any other airport, rather than the Asaba airport. My Igbo brothers, will fly from Asaba airport to Landon and America and they will come with their goods back to the Asaba airport.
“And once I do that, you will be surprised that the people I will need to employ to work at the airport, will be over 2, 000, it is knowing what to do”, he said.
He called on the group to search him and other candidates to know what business they have done on ground before coming to contest as governor of the oil-rich Delta State.
