The Sheriff Oborevwori Vanguard (SOV) has intensified grassroots political engagement across Delta State, consolidating its role as a disciplined, people-driven support movement committed to good governance, unity, and democratic stability.
The Vanguard, which draws its membership from loyal party supporters, community leaders, youths, women, and professionals, was formed out of a strong belief in the leadership philosophy of the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The group describes the governor as a humble and inclusive leader whose governance style places the welfare of ordinary citizens at the centre of public policy.
Speaking on the vision and mission of the movement, the National President of SOV, Chief Emmanuel Arawore, said the Vanguard is “a movement of conviction, not convenience,” established to support responsible governance, defend the people’s mandate, and promote peace and stability in the political process.
According to him, SOV has developed functional structures across the three senatorial districts of the state, operating at the state, local government, and community levels.
These structures, he noted, are deployed to mobilise grassroots support through civic education, political sensitisation, and voter engagement initiatives.
Despite the funding and logistical challenges commonly faced by grassroots organisations, the Vanguard has remained focused, disciplined, and loyal to its founding ideals.
These attributes, stakeholders say, have earned the group increasing credibility and acceptance within the state’s political landscape.
SOV also maintains cordial working relationships with other political support groups, emphasising collaboration rather than rivalry and unity over division in the pursuit of shared democratic goals.
As Delta State looks ahead to future electoral activities, the Sheriff Oborevwori Vanguard has reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful mobilisation, sustained political education, and unwavering support for people-oriented governance that advances development and social harmony across the state.
