The greens of the Ibori Golf and Country Club came alive this morning as the inaugural Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament teed off in grand style with the Caddies’ Event, setting the stage for a thrilling week of golfing action in Delta State.
With the first tee-off at exactly 8:00 a.m., 37 caddie golfers launched the maiden edition of the championship, bringing precision, passion, and flair to the opening round on the lush Asaba course.
The Governor’s Cup, a celebration of sport and statesmanship, is being staged in honour of the 62nd birthday of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who marked the milestone on June 19.
Caddies like Blessing Iyare, Isaac Innocent, Great Obaze, Uju Iwunor, Promise Favor, and Favor Nwafor were among those who showcased their swing skills in the opening event, as they battled for early bragging rights and tournament momentum.
The week-long tourney is expected to draw top amateur and professional golfers from across Nigeria, with prestigious trophies and mouth-watering prizes up for grabs.
With the Caddies’ event already delivering competitive energy, fans and players alike can look forward to a spectacular showdown as the Governor’s Cup drives into full throttle.
