Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep condolences to the Ibru family of Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area following the passing of Mrs. Edna Ibru.
Mrs. Ibru, the wife of the late Olorogun Senator Felix Ovuodoroye Ibru, Delta State’s first Executive Governor, reportedly passed away in London on Wednesday after a brief illness.
A former Miss Nigeria (1964), she was celebrated for her grace and dedication to her family.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described Mrs. Ibru’s death as a painful loss, remembering her as a devoted wife, mother, and pillar of support for her late husband’s political achievements.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I mourn the passing of a remarkable woman, Mrs. Edna Ibru. Her death came as a shock, especially at a time when her family still needed her wisdom and guidance.
“She was a woman of faith who played a key role in supporting her husband’s political career, which led to his historic election as Delta State’s first Executive Governor,” the governor stated.
Governor Oborevwori prayed for God to grant eternal rest to her soul and provide strength to the family and loved ones left behind to bear the loss.
