… Competitors Want Us Out Of Business — MD

The Managing Director of Delight Bakery, Apostle John Monday, is currently counting his lost as fire razed down goods valued at over N45 Million in his bakery located at 9 Iteh Street, Boji Boji, Owa, Ika northeast local government area of Delta State.

Delight Bakery, is the producer of Marvellous Bread, a multi-million naira factory, experiencing the inferno for third time in 10 months.

Trouble started on Friday December 10th 2021, about 3:00am, as the first ever fire incident occurred on 10th February 2021.

Narrating his ordeal to The Story, the MD, Apostle Monday, said: “I have lost all I have laboured for to the fire incidents. This was the third time my factory was burnt down by fire.

“This fire outbreak is very terrible that we cannot even repair. It took place at night, before the incidence, there was no fire trace before we left the factory. We left very late. That very day, there was no work, everybody left around 3:00pm but myself, I left about 10:00pm.

“Before we close work daily, I must check up to five times around first, I must ensure that there is total compliance because of fire outbreak. But this one everybody believed that somebody threw that fire because there was no fire around the corner.

“If they left the factory around 3:00 0’clock, from that 3 0’clock till 10:00 in the night, there should be fire and if there is fire, you can sense either smoke or fire because when we condole round the factory, there was not even fire because they didn’t work that day.

“Where the fire cane in, it is from the store room, not even from the oven. Where we normally have fir is from the Oven or electricity. These are two ways that fire comes from somewhere. This day, it is not from the Oven or electricity, even that day there was total blackout, we put on the generator and we put it off.

“This day, the fire generated from the store room, where they kept the materials and fire does not near that place at all. This is the third time they are doing this thing just to run us down and to push us out of the line. They called me around 2:30am but from every indications and reports, they threw the fire there to burn down the whole factory.

“The damage is worth millions of naira, most of the machines we bought are burnt down, we don’t know where to start. They supplied me 150 bags of flour, they all burnt down. All the materials we bought for the season, were burnt down.

“I am completely confused and depressed. The factory is my office where I earn money to take care of my family and also attend to other needs, unfortunately, I have lost everything to the fire”.

Recounting the the first fire incident, he said: “It happened 10th February 2021.The second one happened 30th of June, 2021 and the third one happened 10th of December, 2021

“I am using this medium to appeal to government, organizations and spirited individuals to please come to my rescue”, adding that over 40 staff of the bakery have been rendered jobless with no hope.

While calling on the State government, organizations and well meaning individuals to come to his assistance, he said: “I need support and prayer to come back to business again”, Apostle John Monday, said.
