Some Christian groups known as Dynamic Church Movement for Gbagi and Concerned Christian Women in Politics have pledged their votes for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, ahead of the March 11th election.
Gbagi’s Oginibo country home in Ughelli south local government area of Delta State, has become a beehive of activities ahead of the gubernatorial election as over 500 women, men and youths armed with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) pledged their votes for the SDP candidate, Gbagi.
The event held on Wednesday March 8th 2023, also saw some decampees from the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) pledging their support, commitment and dedication to SDP, to ensure that it comes out victorious in the election.
The groups led by Rev. Ogegere John and Rev. Mrs. Osha Christiana, armed with their voter’s card said, “we want to join Gbagi, as groups to support him with our voter’s cards.
Rev. Ogegere, said: “We want to give a formidable assurance to our principal who is coming to be the number one man in our State. It is not now, God has ordained it. When God wanted to announce David, he first anointed him secretly and made him to see the palace even when he has not been crowned.
“Gbagi, has seen more than that, he was onetime federal minister of education and the records speak. We want to assure you that whatever it will take us, by the grace of God, materially, physically, spiritually, we will be there for you.
“We will do all in our powers, until you get there. As the date is drawing close on Saturday, we will go and cast our votes for SDP, Kenneth Gbagi, is the governor”, he said.
Also speaking, Rev. Mrs. Osha Christiana, the president, Concerned Christian Women in Politics and former member of PDP, said she would never vote for PDP so as not to return the State to ‘Egypt”.
“I am not working for PDP again, I am working for SDP. I am not voting for PDP. Let your yes be yes. I am out of Egypt, I am not going there again”, she hinted.
Another respondent, Pastor Mrs. Juliana Etaoghene, Chairperson of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN), Warri south local government area, said they saw the good work Gbagi, has done in his private business life to liberate Delta youths.
She hinted that they liked it and decided to join the SDP. We want to leave PDP and APC and join SDP, reiterating that they want to be part of the train and that’s why they have come to join the former chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, to move the State forward.
In same vein, Deaconess Mrs. Ogbodogbo Paulina, Woman Mobilizer in Ozoro, Isoko north local government area of the State, disclosed that she joined SDP when a Good Samaritan, from nowhere wiped the tears of his son who lost 100, 000 to a stranger after her son mistakenly transferred the same sum to the stranger through Point of Service (POS), but was paid by the SDP member.
She called on them to show their support for the SDP by using their PVCs which she described as their deciding power during the election.
Mrs. Osibi Daisy Oghogho, who equally spoke said after listening to the SDP gubernatorial candidate, she was convinced that the Messiah has come.
She said she was tired of working for PDP, “Let us work for SDP, let us join Gbagi, and ensure his victory. We all agreed and that is why we are here.
“Go and win your unit. When you have not win your unit, you said you want to win your Ward, LGA or State, that is not possible. Start from your unit and go from house-to-house.
“We move at night, go from Door-to-door, preaching the good news of politics. And when you come out, don’t be here and there because people won’t take you serious.
“I was telling someone over there if we have this kind of man in this state. I know that the time is short but we will do our best. I want that grace that followed Peter Obi to follow Gbagi as well”.
While noting that she would do her best in her area to mobilize votes for Gbagi, she charged others in the meeting to do same to encourage the SDP gubernatorial candidate.
“We have been working for PDP but it has not favour me. There are many graduates in the street, riding Okada. So, please, go to your unit and work and preach to people for them to understand.
“Before now I know Sheriff Oborevwori, is not going anywhere. With all the money they are borrowing, they don’t pay pensions. Our fathers and mothers are dying everyday, they will retire, they will not get their pensions to take care of themselves”, stressing that if there were two industrialists like Gbagi, the State would have move forward than it is today.
