As part of efforts to give Delta State credible leadership in 2023, motorcycle and tricycle operators have continued to call on Deltans particularly political leaders across the three senatorial districts to toe the right path for the future.
The rising profile of His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), seems to be changing the political equation in the State.
Religious leaders under the state chapter of the Christian Association if Nigeria (CAN), Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and a host of others have decided to work with him to deliver victory for the SDP governorship candidate come March.
Following this trend, motorcycle and tricycle operators otherwise known as Okada and Keke riders, said the former minister of state for education, is the candidate to beat in the race.
They made the declaration on Tuesday January 17th 2023, while receiving free fuel from the renowned philanthropist to help cushion the suffering as a result of the harsh economy.
Speaking at Falcon Bay Energy Limited on Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Junction own by the largest employer of labour in the State, beneficiaries of the free fuel, said the gesture was uncommon.
Mr. Kes Odurere, said: “I am very happy to receive this fuel today, I never expected it. May God bless Gbagi.
“Everybody who received this fuel today, should vote for Gbagi and Gbagi, must win”.
Mr. Wilfred who equally benefited from the gesture, said: “Gbagi, is a good man. Let all of us vote for him so that he can help us out of this suffering. He is someone that has good intentions for us”.
Also, Onyema Francis, expressed joy for the gesture, saying “out of the rest governorship candidates, he is the only one that provided us with free fuel. Deltans should vote for Gbagi, at least, he will take good care of us”.
Another motorcycle owner, Michael, said: ‘it is a kind gesture. What he has done today, we will use it to remember him.
“Delta State need change, we need a government that will impact on the people directly. Something that will alleviate the poverty level and Gbagi, is already doing that “.
Okumagba Joseph, said: “I am very happy today, for Gbagi, to give us free fuel. He is the one I will vote for. I love him and I will tell my friends, colleagues and my parents to vote for him”.
Christopher Chibueze, said he was grateful for the free fuel just as Mr. Victor said: ‘I am very happy to see our incoming Governor giving us free fuel. All of us should have one heart and vote for him”.
Similarly, Oluwa Victor, said: “I am happy with what the SDP governorship candidate has done by giving us free fuel. We need the kind of support like this for the youths so that we will have a better State because we need a liberal person like Gbagi, who has just done this charity to transporters”.
Kelvin, said: “I am so happy, this is the first time in my life to see someone as an incoming Governor doing this because he has the feelings of tricycle operators.
“At this point in time, we value the fuel than anything and we are so happy because this fuel is enough to work up to N5, 000” he said.
“Gbagi, is going to be the next governor of Delta State because he is the only candidate we are seeing his investments in the State.
“That means, if he enters, he will do more. Look at the past governors of the State, we cannot see any of their investments in the State but here we are seeing what Gbagi, has done on ground”, Mr. Joshua Asiuhwu, said.
“I am so excited because this has not happened before. The rest governorship candidates, have not done this kind of thing but you can see that Gbagi, has invited all tricycle operators to come here for free fuel and I am happy about it”, Stephen noted.
“Gbagi is a man that is well known and trusted. He is a man that is reliable, a man that we can be proud of in Delta State, the one that can safe the youths of the State and the man that we have confidence in that can deliver Delta from the hands of the evil ones that cannot rule Delta State for us”, Edwin Okpako said.
“I am very happy and we are praying that with our support for our incoming Governor, God will do it for him to go to that Osadebey House at Asaba, to industrialize this State for us and make it a better place because there are so many people that wants Delta State to improve more than the way it is now and he is the candidate that has that vision”, Adjarho Duke hinted.
