Gbagi Empathizes With Victims Of Okpanam  Building Collapse

Leading Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  governorship aspirant  in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has commiserated with families of  both the dead and injured victims of the collapsed storey- building housing the Salvation Ministries and other tenants at Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.

Gbagi in a statement on Wednesday January 12th 2022, also commended the state government for its prompt response to the incident, rescue operation and setting up a panel of inquiry to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the collapse with a view to preventing such disaster in future.

“It is so sad that this incident claimed precious lives of innocent worshippers and injured scores of others.

“This was certainly an avoidable occurrence and the more reason relevant state and federal authorities should urgently launch an investigation to unearth the mechanical, environmental and human factors responsible for the incident.

“I believe such investigation will help us to guide against this unnecessary waste of lives, injuries and damage to property in the future.

“My heart goes out to all the victims, the Christian Community  and the entire people of the state,” Gbagi, said.

At least four people were confirmed dead and several others injured after the collapse of the Church building.

Government officials, including men of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the State chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and the police among others, had raced to the scene shortly after the incident for rescue operations which lasted for hours.

The officials removed no fewer than 18 victims including children trapped under the rubble.
