The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Sector Command, has vowed to clamp down on unapproved and unlicensed driving schools operating in the state.
This resolution was reached during a strategic meeting held on November 3, 2025, between the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce N. Alexander, and driving school operators across the state.
In her opening remarks, Alexander, who recently assumed duty as the new Sector Commander, expressed concern over the increasing number of unapproved driving schools and unqualified instructors endangering public safety.
She reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring that only accredited institutions are permitted to train drivers in line with national standards.
“Driving schools play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of drivers. We will not allow the activities of unlicensed operators to compromise road safety in Delta State,” Alexander stated.
The driving school operators also raised concerns about the proliferation of unregistered training centres and the activities of individuals who pose as driving instructors without the required certification.
They urged the FRSC to take decisive steps to restore order and professionalism to the sector.
In response, the Sector Commander assured that all reported cases would be investigated and that appropriate actions would be taken against erring operators.
She also promised to escalate the complaints to the FRSC Headquarters for further directives and support.
At the end of the meeting, participants recommended stronger collaboration between the FRSC and driving school operators, enhanced regulatory monitoring, and capacity-building support for accredited schools.
The meeting was described as a major step toward strengthening the FRSC’s partnership with stakeholders in promoting safer driving culture and eliminating illegal training centres in Delta State.
