Former Delta Lands Commissioner, Okenyi, Is Dead

A former Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly and ex-Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development, Sir Dan Okenyi, has died.

His death was confirmed by a family member, Mr. Alex Okenyi, who disclosed that the respected public servant passed away in Lagos after battling an undisclosed illness.

He added that the family is currently making necessary arrangements and will provide further details in due course.

Popularly known as “Kabila,” Sir Dan Okenyi played a prominent role in the legislative arm of government during the administration of former Governor James Ibori.

He served as Commissioner for Lands, Surveys and Urban Development under the administration of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

His tenure as Clerk of the House was marked by a deep understanding of legislative processes and public service delivery.

Okenyi’s passing marks the end of an era for many who knew him as a committed civil servant and seasoned administrator.
