Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, FNIM, has asked the state government under Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration to rise up to its constitutional responsibility to those sacked by the devastating flood.
Gbagi, a recipient of the National Honours Award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), said he is deeply concerned about the havoc the flood has wreaked across the state lately.
He lamented that a huge number of people have been displaced and their homes, business places, thousands of acres of farmlands and worship centres, submerged underwater.
The philanthropist said he is troubled that in the recent flooding incidents recorded in Ughelli south, a 4-year-old child and over 65 communities have been submerged because of the floodwaters currently pounding the local government area and others across the state.

Gbagi sues government to rise up to its constitutional responsibility by evacuating Ughelli south and all other communities that the flood has rendered inhabitable in Delta State to Hotels and temporary IDP camps that are suitable for human habitation and provide adequate food of three square meals with Immediate effect.
‘The situation that is traceable to negligence, lack of four sight and the citizenry cannot be blamed for the negligence of government.
“In the light of the above, government should do what they swore to oath to do to its citizenry” he stressed.
