The Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Delta State, has raised the alarm over what it described as the discovery of an orchestrated plot by the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), to gather some hired crowd as defecting members in order to derail genuine members of SDP ahead of the 2023 general election.
The governorship candidate of the party cum security expert, His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, raised the alarm on Monday January 6th 2023, during SDP Rally in Warri south local government area.
The Criminologist, said: “Eight years ago, when PDP is here, they didn’t think of buying SDP but since Gbagi joined SDP, the party has turned into a social movement, now, they are thinking of buying our members.
“If they don’t see SDP as a threat to them, they will not negotiate with fake members they planted in SDP.
The leading gubernatorial candidate in the State, disclosed that SDP has renowned legal practitioners that would challenge them to the later.
“But let me assure you, we are lawyers. Let them try, we will make the State unpassable for them. Let them try under any name, anybody who is selling out today because of N2 million and N5 million, will fail”.
He told the mammoth crowd at the rally that the votes of those vying for various elective positions are in the hands of the electorate.
The Social Democratic Party, now a force to reckon with however said it was not surprised at the resort of PDP to cause panic by planting fake and hired crowd as members amongst them because it is a clear acceptance of electoral defeat which apparently accounts for PDP’s misrule in the State.
Gbagi further said: Our votes are in your hands. Our going to be governor and others, is in your hands and we have it like that across the 25 local government area of the State.
“They said they can fight God. Between those people who are fighting God and those who God is fighting for, who has victory? He asked.
“Don’t be perturbed, we are watching them. At the appropriate time when we will start speaking, Delta State will shake. We are quiet not because we are unaware of their orchestrated plans. If they try it, they will run out of the State.
“Delta State belongs to all of us, nobody will choose governor for us. You will make the choice of who becomes the governor of the state. Nobody will impose governor on us. We, as Deltans will choose our own governor”, Gbagi assured them.
