Facts have emerged on how the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) administration purportedly sweet mouthed appointees of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly cum governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
It was gathered that the PDP in their plans to capture Ughelli, the stronghold of Omo-Agege and other areas which they have not won since inception of election in the state, lured his appointees into resigning with bogus promises of appointment into juicy offices.
A source who is privy to the arrangement said in order to win someone over who is already in an employment, the person needs to get another better employment.
According to the source, ‘Because those people are direct employees of Omo-Agege and they have appointment letters since 2015″.
The secret came to public domain when supporters of PDP in Isoko and Ughelli north council areas threatened to work against the party in 2023, over failure of the government to recognize their efforts rather appointments were being given to those who just cross carpeted from the opposition party.
“We invited them to come and join the PDP, the only condition in which they can drop their appointments is for them to get another appointment.
“That was what we did because there are some areas in Ughelli that the PDP has never won since inception of election in Delta State.
“So this time around we used that tactics to get them so that we can be able to deliver the Ughelli axis in the next election, PDP can win those areas”, he stated.
It would be recall that between June and July 2022, tsunami of resignation hit Omo-Agege’s camp as over 10 of his aides tendered their resignation letters.
Among those who tendered their resignation on the 10th of June are Gladys Agba Ovie, who said her resignation is due to personal reason.
Also, Prince Peter Etareri Okorodudu, equally cited personal reasons for his resignation but not without thanking Omo-Agege, for the privilege accorded him to serve.
Also, Godwin Obire, Eruvwetere Inedi, Emmanuel Okorodudu, gave personal reasons and political exigencies as their basis for resigning.
While Believe Egbe, who resigned on 10th of May, one month before others joined him, said he equally threw in the towel for personal reasons, adding that he can no longer continue his duties as aide to the Senator.
He was later taken to the governor in government house 24 hours after his resignation.
It was learnt that some of those who resigned are presently regretting their decision.
