By Patrick Ochei

Thursday 26th June, 2025, will always be a day to remember in the history of Ifite Grammar School, Isheagu in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State as Fostering Hopes Foundation created an atmosphere of excitement among the students and teachers alike by holding health talk on personal hygiene to enlighten the students on how best to take proper care of their body and environment.

At the event, the mixed students (boys and girls) were motivated on their career plan, development and progression by the Delta State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, being a formidable collaborator with Fostering Hopes Foundation.

The health talk was handled by two medical personnel – Mercy Igori and Gift Iyoha who took time to explain levels of cleanliness to the students, especially the girls whom they demonstrated and illustrated to on how to wear sanitary pads in the event that menstruation occurs.

Earlier while addressing the principal of the school and his management staff, the Foundation’s Program Director on Community Engagement and Development, Comrade Patrick Ochei had given the profile of Fostering Hopes Foundation with regards to its existential activities of empowering communities, one family at a time and the purpose of the school visitation.

While giving them the history of the Foundation, he said that the Founder and Executive Director, Nkechi Ukome had initiative the NGO for the main reason of advocating for child protection and development; adding however, that over 34 children are already on scholarship with the Foundation and another prospective six due to be added to the list in July.

Meanwhile, the highly elated principal, Mr. Christopher Masigwe had commended Fostering Hopes Foundation for taking the initiative to visit the school, positing that this was the first time an NGO would organise any programme of this nature in the school, thereby maintaining that the students would be happy for the gesture.

Indeed, the students were happy after the lectures, with sanitary pads distributed to the girls and female teachers alike.

The excitement and appreciation of the students were conveyed through a vote of thanks by the School Prefect, Miss David Blessing, who assured that they would put the lessons learnt to proper use.
