In a demonstration of unity and renewed commitment to environmental sustainability, Private Sector Participants (PSPs) in waste management from Ethiope East Local Government Area paid a felicitation visit to the Acting Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Felix Erhimedafe, following his recent assumption of office.
The delegation, led by its Chairman, Rufus Adedokun, alongside the Supervisor in charge of the Abraka Field Office, Oguori-Okodaso Ejiroghene, described the visit as both a gesture of goodwill and a strategic move to reinforce collaboration with the state’s waste management leadership.
The meeting, which held in a cordial atmosphere, brought together key stakeholders in the sanitation sector and provided an avenue for strengthening ties between grassroots operators and the state board.
The delegation commended Erhimedafe’s appointment, expressing confidence in his capacity to reposition the board for greater efficiency and impact.
Speaking during the visit, Pastor Adedokun noted that PSP operators remain critical partners in achieving a cleaner environment, particularly at the community level where waste collection and disposal services directly affect residents’ quality of life.
He emphasized the group’s readiness to align with the vision of the new leadership in delivering improved sanitation outcomes across Ethiope East and beyond.
“We are here to felicitate with the Chairman and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting the board’s mandate.
“We believe that under his leadership, waste management in Delta State will witness a new phase of innovation, discipline, and effectiveness,” he said.
Also speaking, Comrade Ejiroghene underscored the importance of synergy between field operators and the central authority, stressing that efficient coordination would significantly enhance service delivery in operational zones such as Abraka.
He assured the Chairman of continued cooperation and adherence to best practices in waste management operations.
In his response, Erhimedafe expressed appreciation for the visit and the show of solidarity from the PSP operators, describing them as indispensable partners in the state’s environmental sustainability agenda.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering inclusive collaboration, improving operational standards, and ensuring that all stakeholders are effectively integrated into the board’s strategic framework.
“Your role in waste management at the grassroots cannot be overstated. We will continue to engage, support, and work closely with you to ensure that our environment remains clean, safe, and conducive for all,” he stated.
The Acting Chairman further highlighted the need for professionalism, accountability, and consistency in service delivery, adding that the board would intensify monitoring and support mechanisms to enhance performance across all operational zones.
The visit concluded with a shared resolve to deepen cooperation and pursue innovative approaches that will strengthen waste management systems in Delta State.
Both parties expressed optimism that sustained collaboration would not only improve environmental sanitation but also contribute to public health and overall socio-economic development in the state.
