As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for upcoming congresses at the ward, local government, state, and zonal levels, Eugene Azuka Uzum emphasizes that equity and inclusiveness are vital for creating a formidable congress and strengthening the party in Delta State.
Uzum, a dedicated lawyer and member of the APC, expressed his concerns regarding the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in the state.
He urged the party leadership to adopt principles of equity and inclusiveness to ensure that the influx of new members does not marginalize longstanding party members.
He warned that failure to implement such measures could lead to internal conflict, disputes, and a deterioration of internal democracy within the party.
He highlighted the importance of adhering to Articles 11 and 17 of the party’s constitution, which govern membership, conduct of congresses, and internal democracy.
Uzum asserted that the ongoing registration of party members must be conducted transparently and inclusively to prevent any issues related to dual membership.
He cautioned that failure to address these concerns would not only undermine the integrity of the congresses but also weaken the party’s position in the state.
