Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has underscored the vital role of education in preventing crime, stating that increased investment in the sector is essential for boosting security and reducing criminal activities.
He Spoke on Thursday after inspecting the ongoing construction of the Model Technical College in Omadino, Warri South Local Government Area.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that access to quality education creates opportunities for young people, diverting them from criminal paths and fostering a safer society.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure, supporting teachers, and promoting inclusive learning, the governor stressed that education remains a top priority.
“I have said that education is my priority, and we are using it to checkmate crime. We are implementing initiatives that will discourage criminal activities. Education is very important to us, and I will continue to promote effective learning,” Oborevwori stated.
While noting some unsatisfactory aspects of the ongoing project, he urged the contractors to make necessary corrections and reassured Deltans of his government’s dedication to educational development.
“There are other technical schools that are ongoing, like the one in Kiagbodo. The one in Bomadi, we have asked the contractor to return to the site,” he added.
Governor Oborevwori reiterated that investing in education is a long-term strategy to secure the future of Delta State and create a crime-free society.
