The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians around the world, urging them to embrace the spirit of hope and renewal symbolized by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In his Easter message, Rt. Hon. Guwor reflected on the profound significance of the season, noting that it embodies Christ’s sacrificial love, death, and resurrection, an enduring message of victory over despair and the promise of new life.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Conference Chairman, who also serves as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, encouraged Christians to reflect the virtues of love, humility, sacrifice, forgiveness, and faith in their daily lives, stressing that these values are essential for building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.
“Easter stands as the foundation of the Christian faith, commemorating the sacrificial love and glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It reminds us that hope can emerge from despair, light can overcome darkness, and life ultimately triumphs over death,” Guwor stated.
While acknowledging the various challenges confronting societies globally, the Speaker emphasized the importance of resilience, unity, and collective responsibility in advancing peace, security, and prosperity.
“At this sacred and joyous season, I urge all Christians to reflect deeply on the teachings and example of Christ. These virtues are vital not only for personal spiritual growth but also for fostering harmony, justice, and unity in our communities.
“In Nigeria and across the world, we continue to face circumstances that test our resolve. However, the message of Easter reassures us that no situation is beyond redemption.
It calls on us to remain steadfast, support one another, and work together towards a future defined by peace, security, and shared prosperity.
“As leaders and citizens, let us embrace the renewal that Easter represents by recommitting ourselves to justice, equity, and service to humanity. Together, we can strengthen our institutions and promote a more inclusive society,” he added.
Rt. Hon. Guwor further reaffirmed the commitment of State Assemblies to enacting legislation that promotes good governance, social justice, and economic development, assuring continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to enhance the welfare of the people.
