The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has reassured residents of Asaba and its environs that ongoing flood-control projects will provide a lasting solution to the perennial flooding challenges in the capital territory.

A key intervention currently underway is the construction of the Ogbeilo, Ugbomanta Storm Drainage System, which channels discharge through Ogbeogonogo Market to Otuogwu Bay in Oshimili South Local Government Area.

According to the Agency, this project, alongside other strategic flood-control measures—is designed to ensure the free flow of storm water and eliminate blockages that cause flooding in densely populated communities.

Director General of the Agency, Hon. Patrick Ukah, urged residents to exercise patience and support as the projects progress, noting that while temporary inconveniences may occur, they are necessary sacrifices for long-term relief.

“These projects are not stop-gap measures,” Ukah emphasized. “They are designed as permanent solutions to guarantee that flooding in the capital territory becomes a thing of the past.”

The DSCTDA reaffirmed its commitment to building a clean, secure, and flood-free environment that will enhance the quality of life for residents and promote sustainable growth for businesses within the capital territory.
