Deltans Urged To Join In Stabilizing Democracy

Young people in Delta state have been charged to participate in the stabilization of the country’s democracy.

Country Ambasador, Young Political Leadership School Africa, Comr. Ugagaoghene Yole, gave the charge, during a sensitization visit to Niger Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, the State capital.

While saying it is the only way to sustain democracy of the country, Yole, urged them to get involved in the electoral process by exercising their civic responsibility when it comes to election time by voting the right people.

He tasked them to ensure that their vote count and engage government in term of policies.

The country Ambassador said that in giving back to society the knowledge acquired from the training he and members of his team received in Liberia, from YPLS by Naymote Partners for Democratic Development and sponsored by Open Society Initiative for West Africa.

According to him, the sensitization of students was also been done across the African Countries such as Serria Leone, Uganda, Mali and in Nigeria has five schools that they were engaging, with Delta State Alumni as the first to engage students on the need to stabilize democracy so as the achieve a good government they desire.

On his part the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Youth Development, Comr. Elvis Akpovi, said in correcting the wrong orientation and policies made by persons ahead of them, youths must be carried along in the activities of government.

Akpovi said that in other for the country to get better the youths must get involved in governance

While commending Naymote Partners for the privileged given to them to make Africa better, he urged the student not to take the training they have received for granted as it would go a long way to better their lives.

In his words the President of Parliamentarian Club, Nnagozi Lincoln said that he would sustain the visions of YPLS Democratic Club which he said was an addition to their Club.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Principal, staff and student of the school, the Assistant Head boy of the school,  Clement Ikechukwu commended the team for their effort, said they would put to practice what they learnt from the sensitization.

Highlight of the sensitization was the adoption of the YPLS Democratic Club into the already existing Parliamentarian club of the school, so as to continue to engage the student on how to stabilize democracy and so as to grow into leaders of the society.
