In a show of political solidarity and grassroots mobilization, Delta women under the aegis of Unique Ladies for Sheriff have formally endorsed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their preferred candidates for the 2027 general elections, declaring emphatically that there is “no vacancy” in both Government House, Asaba, and Aso Rock Villa.

The declaration, which took place on Tuesday at a colourful rally held at the Cenotaph, Asaba, brought together women representatives from all 25 local government areas of Delta State, reaffirming their loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and expressing readiness to ensure a landslide victory for both leaders.

Delivering her keynote address themed “Touching the Grassroots,” the National Coordinator of Unique Ladies for Sheriff, Dame Nkem Patience Okwuofu, described the event as a defining moment for Delta women to consolidate support for Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda and President Tinubu’s reform-driven administration.

“We are reaching out to young girls, farmers, artisans, and businesswomen, the true heartbeat of Delta State.

“We must continue to communicate the governor’s development strides and strengthen our grassroots structures,” Okwuofu said, adding that “empowered women empower communities.”

She commended Governor Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for promoting inclusive governance and grassroots participation.

Okwuofu also urged women to take advantage of ongoing government programmes, champion voter enlightenment, and drive community development across the state.

Representing the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, Mrs. Ewoma Erijo, wife of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, commended the unity among the women and assured them of continuous collaboration and support from the First Lady’s office.

Delivering a goodwill message, the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, lauded the group’s strong mobilization and political engagement.

“Let every woman be a virtue in her community. Participate fully in government programmes and ensure that interventions reach the right people,” he said, stressing that women remain central to the success of government policies.

Also speaking, Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, reaffirmed confidence in Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, citing his record of prudent fiscal management and economic stability.

“Delta State remains one of the richest in Nigeria. Salaries are paid promptly, and our budgets are implemented without borrowing.

“The presence of Julius Berger in Delta today is proof that we have a governor who delivers,” Tilije noted, describing Oborevwori as “the best man for the job.”

Representing the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, commended the women for their mobilization capacity, noting that their involvement would be decisive in the 2027 elections.

“Once the women are with you, success is guaranteed. Go into your communities and campaign with all you have. We will campaign with projects, and with your support, 2027 will be a success,” he assured.

In a symbolic gesture, Princess Pat moved a motion of confidence in both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, which was seconded by Mrs. Irene Imilar.

“By virtue of what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have achieved, we, the Unique Ladies for Sheriff, pass a vote of confidence in them. Come 2027, both leaders will return unopposed,” she declared to loud applause.

The event also featured a cash donation to support the grassroots activities of rural women. In solidarity, the women pledged to sustain voter mobilization and community outreach efforts in support of the re-election of both leaders, reinforcing their commitment to a united and progressive Delta State.
