The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a change in the date and venue for the grand finale of the 2025 Basic Education Schools Sports Competition, earlier scheduled to take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
In a statement signed by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Hon. Samuel Mariere, the finals will now hold on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Hon. Mariere explained that the finals will feature all major sporting events, including Football, Table Tennis, Scrabble, and Athletics (100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay).
The statement reads in part:
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Education Secretaries, Head Teachers, Sports Masters, and pupils across the State, that there has been a change in the date and venue of the finals of the 2025 Basic Education Schools Sports Competition, earlier scheduled to hold at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The Board wishes to inform all stakeholders that the finals in all sporting events, including Football, Table Tennis, Scrabble, and Athletics, will now hold on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro.”
SUBEB advised all participating schools and Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) to take note of the adjustment and make the necessary arrangements for the finals.
“The Board regrets any inconvenience caused by this adjustment and appreciates the continued cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders as it works towards a successful conclusion of the competition,” Hon. Mariere added.
Meanwhile, in the much-anticipated football final, Pessu Primary School, Warri (Warri South LGA) will square off against Obioma Primary School, Obinomba (Ukwuani LGA) in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
The Board urged all qualifying schools and officials to prepare adequately for the prestigious finals, reaffirming its commitment to promoting grassroots sports development and talent discovery in Delta State.
