The Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS) has announced a major milestone in its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) performance, collecting over N104 billion in the first half of the 2025 fiscal year.
In a statement released by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, the Service recorded a total revenue of N104,080,603,826.74 between January and June 2025.
This represents a significant increase from the N78,017,546,571.06 collected during the same period in 2024, a positive variance of N26,063,057,255.68, amounting to a 133.41% performance rate.
Hon. Ighrakpata disclosed that the January–June figure represents 77.62% of the Service’s annual revenue target of N134,092,848,109.00 as captured in the 2025 Budget.
He expressed confidence that, given the current trajectory, the IRS is well on course to surpass its annual target before the end of the fiscal year.
The Executive Chairman attributed the impressive performance to multiple factors, including the prudent deployment of public funds by Governor Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori to execute impactful infrastructure and development projects across the state’s three senatorial districts.
He also commended the teamwork and dedication of the Board and management of the IRS.
He acknowledged the strategic technical support from lead consultants—ICMA Professional Services and Zopaz Advisory Services—for their continued contribution to the state’s IGR growth.
Ighrakpata further highlighted key initiatives that enhanced revenue performance, including:
Sustained stakeholder engagement and taxpayer education;
Implementation of the whistleblower policy;
Establishment of the Executive Chairman Intelligence Gathering and Compliance Monitoring Unit;
Creation of a Tax Investigation Unit;
Effective use of the Tax Audit Review Committee (TARC) for resolving tax liability objections.
He extended appreciation to critical stakeholders such as federal and state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), security agencies, revenue-collecting banks, the organized private sector, professional bodies, trade unions, traditional rulers, and local government councils for their collaborative roles in revenue mobilization.
According to him, their support has helped the state government to mobilize the resources needed to deliver on the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the Oborevwori-led administration, focused on Meaningful Development, Opportunity for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
Hon. Ighrakpata reaffirmed the IRS’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in revenue administration to ensure Delta State’s sustainable development.
