In a bold and strategic crackdown on criminal activities, the Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes following a series of intelligence-led raids across the state, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The coordinated operations, executed by specialized police units in collaboration with local security groups, led to the arrest of multiple suspects linked to cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug trafficking, alongside the recovery of firearms, illicit substances, and dangerous weapons.
In one of the operations carried out on April 4, 2026, operatives of the Command’s Raiders Unit, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected criminal hideout in Ika South Local Government Area of Agbor.
The raid resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect, identified as Henry Obi, who reportedly confessed to being a member of the notorious Aiye Confraternity.
A thorough search of the premises uncovered an English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
In a further twist, operatives discovered quantities of suspected illicit drugs cleverly concealed within a standing air conditioner, an apparent attempt to evade detection.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
In a related development on April 5, 2026, operatives of the Buffalo Team, in synergy with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Achalla Branch, carried out a coordinated raid at a criminal hotspot located at the Hausa Market near the Customs Checkpoint along the Benin–Asaba Expressway.
The operation led to the arrest of four suspects aged between 16 and 21 years. Recovered items from the scene included substantial quantities of suspected illicit drugs such as Colorado, Canadian Loud, Indian hemp, Tramadol, and Swinol.
Additionally, two locally fabricated battle axes and a cash sum of ₦144,000 were seized.
All arrested suspects are currently in police custody, with investigations ongoing to unravel the extent of their criminal networks and possible accomplices.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, lauded the success of the operations as a testament to the Command’s resolve to decisively combat crime.
He further called on residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information, assuring that the Command remains steadfast in its mission to ensure peace, security, and public safety across Delta State.
The latest breakthroughs underscore the Delta State Police Command’s proactive and intelligence-driven approach in dismantling criminal enterprises and restoring confidence in public security.
