Delta Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Fabricated Pistol Hidden In Loaf Of Bread

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber and kidnapper in a dramatic operation that led to the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, 24, of Ogbeowele Quarters behind General Hospital, Asaba, was arrested on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) during a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.

The operatives reportedly became suspicious of Chibuike’s behaviour and subjected him to a thorough search, during which a fabricated Beretta pistol was discovered neatly hidden within a loaf of bread. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, while the weapon was secured as an exhibit.

SP Edafe noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible involvement in recent cases of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba metropolis and surrounding communities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as a testament to the Command’s sustained intelligence-led and proactive policing approach.

“This discovery underscores our unwavering resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of the sophistication of their tactics,” CP Abaniwonda stated.

He urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and continue to provide the police with credible information that could aid crime prevention and detection, assuring that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The CP reaffirmed the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and security across all parts of the state.
