The number one family in Delta State is currently down with the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic as one of the daughters has contracted Covid-19.

The state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, had earlier on Friday, announced through his verified Facebook account made the disclosure.
“Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for #COVID19. Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we are both going into isolation for the next 14-days. We will continue to keep you all updated”, the governor said.
The governor’s daughter is among the 106 cases earlier announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, said, “consequently, the Governor and his family members will immediately commence self-isolation for 14 days”.
“It is again pertinent to stress that COVID-19 is real, and citizens are advised to be disciplined and comply with the protocols of wearing Face Masks and maintaining physical-distancing while in public places as well as basic hygiene of hand-washing with soap in running water and use of alcohol-based sanitisers as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),  regulation demands,” Ifeajika added.
It would be recall that Okowa, on 19th of June 2020, while briefing government house correspondents lamented that people do not observe the measures put in place to curtail the spread of the disease.
It would also be recall that two top government functionaries, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chiedu Ebie and the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, were infected and are presently undergoing treatment.
