Delta NUJ Rejoices As Oborevwori Appoint Ochei, Two Others

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for appointing three of its members.

Those appointed are the immediate past State Secretary of the Council, Comrade Patrick Ochei, as Private Secretary to the Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrades Ghene Igbogidi and Emmanuel Ojighodovwan of the DBS Warri Chapel, on their appointments as Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) on Media to the State Governor.

A release by the Chairman and Secretary of the Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe and Comrade Victor Sorokwu respectively, congratulated the trio on their recent appointments.

The release stated: “The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta Council, wishes to congratulate our members on their recent appointments into the Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori administration.

“NUJ Delta Council is indeed delighted that the spirited professional endeavour of essential service delivery by our members are being recognised and rewarded in surplus by both the executive and legislative arms of the incumbent administration in Delta State.

“It is noteworthy that Comrades Emmanuel Ojighodovwan and Ghene Igbogidi had served with the governor when he was the Speaker of the DTHA in the immediate past administration.

“It therefore goes that the appointments were well deserved and a testimony of their impressive performance as aides to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori while he was Speaker of the Delta Assembly.

“Same goes for the immediate past Secretary of NUJ Delta Council, Comrade Patrick Ochei, who had been a media consultant to the three-time member representing Aniocha North Constituency in the State Legislature, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, now the Majority Leader.

“Comrade Ghene Igbogidi, now SSA to the Governor on Media, works with Delta Broadcasting Service, (DBS) Warri, as News Editor over two decades while Comrade Emmanuel Ojighodovwan, SSA to the Governor on Media and Still Camera, started his career with DBS, Warri as a Cameraman but later upgraded to a Reporter and has also served the station for over a decade.

“The council charges our distinguished members to spare no talent or skill to ensure excellence in the discharge and delivery of their assigned duties, while pledging the Union’s support to enable them succeed on their new roles.

“We again thank the Delta governor and the Majority Leader for the gesture, as we reiterate the union’s resolve to partner with the Oborevwori administration to make Delta a pride among states of the federation”, the statement, added.
