Delta NUJ Congratulates Oborevwori, Governor-elect

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated the Governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who has victoriously emerged winner of the contest as Governor-elect.

In a press statement on Monday March 20th 2023, made available to journalists on Tuesday March 21st 2023 by the Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochei respectively said the PDP flag bearer deserved it

“It is noteworthy to say that having worked so hard for the position, he deserves the winning.

“However, it is also pertinent to mention that those who contested with him are all great Deltans who had shown dexterity and capacity to leadership by contesting to contribute their quota to the development of our dear State.

“On this note, we beg to affirm that the election should be seen as “No Victor, No Vanquished”.

“It is Delta State that has won, because in the final analysis, we all remain Deltans – One Great People.

“Let this also be a credible advice from us to the Governor-Elect; that he should be magnanimous in victory by carrying everybody along to achieve inclusiveness in the spirit of his MORE Agenda mantra.

“As the umbrella body of all journalists in the State, we will remain committed to our constitutional mandate of holding government accountable through our routine and investigative reports.

“However, we will not shy away from making our sincere contributions to the growth and development of the socio-economic and political focus of Delta State.

“This we will do through constructive criticism, advice and suggestions on how best to achieve system cohesion and comprehensive progress for all.

“Our doors at the Council level are always open for partnership and synergy to create an enviable environment and achieve a Delta of our Dream.

“Once again Mr. Governor-Elect; on behalf of the entire journalists in the State and beyond, we say a Big Congratulation to you, and success in your administration”, the statement added.
