The peace loving town of Jesse in Ethiope west local government area of Delta State, was agog on Sunday October 24th 2021, as the Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Obukohwo Monday Arthur Whiskey, Udurhie 1, conferred Orugba of Idjerhe kingdom on Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi,
Delta leading governorship aspirant.
The conferment which was done at Idjerhe Grammar School playground, coincided with the one year anniversary of the king who ascended the throne of his ancestors barely a year ago.
Expressing his satisfaction to the king and the Idjerhe kingdom, which happens to be his maternal home, the frontline governorship aspirant noted: “I and my wife, we are very happy that you honored me with “Orugba of Idjerhe kingdom.
“We will continue to press forward. I am at home, it is how we are going to move our home forward that is what we should plan”, Gbagi stated.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the conferment, the prominent gubernatorial hopeful, Barr. Gbagi, said: “It is a good thing that you are recognized by your own people. Actually titles such as this one I have not solicited for, they are things that have come about as a result of your hard work and your contributions, I feel very great about it”, he said.
He expressed optimism that the monarch would perform credibly as he continues on the throne, “It is my strong believe and honour that the king will do extremely.
“I congratulate him on his first year anniversary and more importantly, the peace we are enjoying today here, is not so in APC States. It is only in PDP States. So, I am telling all of you that we don’t want to go back, we want to go forward, PDP is the answer”, Gbagi declared.
Dignitaries present at the event includes Hon. Chief Barr. Halins John Ochuko Agoda, of the federal character Commission, Chief John Nani, Executive Director, Finance and Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOOADEC), Hon. Ben Ibakpan, member representing Ethiope east and west federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives among others.
