Delta Journalists Set For 2025 NUJ Press Week, Nov. 16–23

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has announced the commencement of its 2025 Press Week, scheduled to take place from Sunday, November 16, to Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Asaba.

This year’s celebration, themed “Tax Regimes and Exchange Rate Unification: Economic Implications and the Media’s Strategic Role,” promises a week of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to media excellence and societal development.

According to a statement by the Planning Committee, signed by Comrades Pere Botu and Barth Ozah, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the week-long programme will feature a series of engaging activities, including thanksgiving services, media house visits.

Other activities are sensitization walk, medical and social outreaches, a novelty football match, and the grand Opening Ceremony, Lecture, and Awards scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Orchid Hotels, Asaba, by 11:00 a.m.

Distinguished Senator Joel Onowakpor Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, will deliver the keynote address.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, will participate as one of the panel discussants.

The NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, will serve as Chief Host, with the Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, as the Host.

The Delta NUJ Council noted that the 2025 Press Week seeks to promote intellectual discourse on pressing national economic issues, strengthen the role of the media in public enlightenment, and celebrate the contributions of journalists to good governance and democratic sustainability.
