The Ijaw Political Leadership in Delta State on Tuesday gave a resounding Vote of Confidence to Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his impressive performance over the past 19 months.

At an extraordinary meeting in Asaba, presided over by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the group collectively endorsed Oborevwori for a second term in 2027, declaring that “there is no vacancy in Dennis Osadebe House, Asaba till 2031.”

The motion, moved by Hon Pereotu Oloye and seconded by Chief Barry Gbe, was unanimously adopted to appreciate the Governor’s contributions to the Ijaw ethnic nationality and to encourage further development initiatives.

In a communique read by Chief Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, the leadership highlighted Oborevwori’s commitment to ensuring the Ijaws’ rightful place in Delta State governance.

The meeting, held at the residence of Chief Emmanuel Amgbadugba, began with a minute of silence in honor of the late Ijaw elder statesman, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark. The leaders praised Clark’s legacy of advocacy for the Niger Delta, vowing to uphold his vision of justice and equity.

Key projects appreciated by the Ijaw leaders include the Egodo-Ogbeingbene road, the upward review of the Ayakoromo bridge, and the construction and rehabilitation of several critical roads across Ijaw communities.

The group expressed confidence that Governor Oborevwori would continue to deliver on his MORE Agenda, urging all Ijaw people to maintain their support for his administration until 2031.

With a strong turnout of political heavyweights, including commissioners, council chairmen, and senior government aides, the meeting sent a clear message: Delta Ijaw leaders are firmly behind Oborevwori’s leadership and vision for the state.
