DELTA GUBER: UPU Urges Governorship Candidates To Withraw Petitions Against Oborevwori

The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youth Wing, worldwide, has urged gubernatorial candidates in the just concluded election in Delta State to withdraw all litigations against the governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for the interest and unity of the state.

The Youth Wing of the apex decision making body of Urhobo ethnic nationality under the leadership of Comrade Nixon Ufuoma Duru, advised party flag bearers of political parties in court to withdraw their petitions, challenging the election of Oborevwori at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The National Youth Executive Council of the socio-cultural organization in a congratulatory message on Saturday 3rd June 2023, by its National Secretary, Comrade Peter E. Darah Sane (JP) urged them and their supporters to accept the reality of the fact that Oborevwori had emerged as governor of the state.

UPU Youth Wing, called on the opponents and other stakeholders who are aggrieved to drop their ligations and support Oborevwori’s administration, with the purpose of uniting and developing the state.

They urged the gubernatorial candidates to join him (Oborevwori) in the task of making a better state with his “MORE Agenda, saying that they and their supporters should align with the ebullience and conviviality of welcoming Oborevwori’s victory to the Office of the Governor of the State.

According to the statement, “the National Executive Council of the Ukoko r’ okugbe r’ Ighele Urhobo, also known as Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Youth Wing, ably led by her National President, Comrade Nixon Ufuoma Duru expresses her heartfelt felicitations to the newly sworn-in governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori on his well-deserved victory at the just concluded general elections as well as his successful swearing-in as the new executive governor of Delta State.

“Your Excellency, it is pertinent to note that your emergence as the governor of our dear State is an attestation of your incontestable track records considering your stupendous experience on purposeful governance in the State as the former/longest Speaker of the State House of Assembly including other offices you have served.

“Consequently, the State will no doubt witness rapid and general development through your MORE Agenda.

“Also, we have confidence that your administration shall be all inclusive, however, we urge Deltans particularly the youths to rally support for his administration and also pray for God’s wisdom and protection to enable you succeed as you take over affairs of the State for the next four years and beyond”, the statement said.

The statement which called on party flag bearers to withdraw petitions against Oborevwori equally charged other stakeholders to collaborate with the governor to build a formidable front for the State.

“We therefore appeal to all aggrieved stakeholders across the State, especially candidates whose election outcome appears to be unfair or unsatisfied to graciously withdraw all petitions from the court and join hands with our dear Governor for the actualization of the MORE Agenda in the State.

The body assured the governor again of their unwavering support for his government, “To this end, we reassure His Excellency of our unflinching support. Once again, congratulations Your Excellency!.
